Death is very likely the single best invention of life.
Keeping death in perspective offers many benefits in life. Death reminds me of endings. Death is the ultimate reminder that almost everything we begin ends. Our life experience as we know it, the people we love and care for, everything we build, all of it ends.
We humans become sad when something ends, ranging from a beautiful vacation to a relationship that meant the most to us. Putting death in perspective helps me find comfort in these situations. Ending is an inevitable part of beginning.
One of the reasonable things to do is accept that ending is part of the very structure we live in. We cannot escape the ending. Still, feeling sad about an ending is beautiful in itself. It only implies the journey was worth it, that it was something you’d miss, something that made a difference to you.
Life is a summation of experiences, each with an unannounced beginning and an assured end. When an experience ends, remember it’s only part of the process. One of the viable things to do is to hold on to the good memories, remember the lessons learned, and move on.
Maybe the knowledge that everything ends is also an invitation to enjoy the current moment fully, not because it will last forever, but because it will definitely end. So enjoy it before it ends.
